The earliest version of the Aurora "ME 109" that I remember had a balkan cross (in a circle?) for the fin marking rather than a Hakenkreuz. If my memory is correct, the location for that decal marking was also present as raised lines on the fin itself. Didn't that "ME 109" combine features of the C/D and E versions?
I knew what Pat was talking about because I had the issue in question right before me. If FSM is to be faulted, it is for not noting in the contents page's cover photo credits that the photo was retouched and why: "Aurelio Gimeno Ruiz photo, retouched (modified) to conform to overseas postal regualtions" would have done. I guess that many of us older hands already knew this and didn't give it more than a passing thought.
Nevertheless, Pat's initial post would have been much easier to understand had some simblance of standard punctuation and phrasing been employed. Requests for clarification - and indications of what clarifications are needed - are just that, not insults.
