Wow, must be nice to have local prices so competitive with mail ordering. There used to be a couple shops like that in Toronto, but no longer. Prices have gone, in a word, stupid here in Canada over the last few years. Eduard PE $39.99 and up, Tamiya prices on new kits are simply obscene in a lot of cases.

As someone pointed out, a hobby shop is a business and we are customers. When shopping for food, clothes, stereos, TVs, etc. we look for the best value for our money, so why not when buying hobby related products?

At some point one must seriously reconsider a local purchase over going global. For example, to buy ONE of Tamiya's new HUMVEE kits (2400Yen = $28.80Cdn) from Japan would cost about $44Cdn in my hands (including shipping & taxes). But, the same kit is in two local shops for $54.99+tx = $63.24Cdn. Now, add a few other things you want to the order and the savings continue to grow. I site more Tamiya examples at http://home.interlog.com/~khartlen/news/2003.htm
