 Subject:  Resin Plugs....List thread.

I was once like you, hating resin kits because of the plugs, until I mastered a technique gradually reducing the plug using a Xuron tool, even one that is worn works well. Cut small pieces off gradually, and if a cut doesn't feel right as you're doing it, stop and nip off a smaller piece instead. In no time, you'll have liberated your piece from the carrier.

It comes down to good engineering. A lot of the French firms like ALBY use very little carrier since resin is more expensive in Europe. They usually just have a little nib to trip off which you can actually miss, their kits are that good, but they don't come out with a lot of stuff compared to others. Commanders kits are notorious for excess resin.

As for my pet peeves, the #1 is the bozo who lights up his stinky cigarette in the hobby shop I go to and proceeds to complain about the state of his bad health with the darned thing dangling from his mouth. It stinks up the kits, irriattes everybody, and anybody that brings it up doesn't get any satisfaction. And he's one of those smokers who will kill everybody else before his day comes. Incredible.

I could of course write a book about the gun crazy, rude midget hobby store operator that has the interpersonal skills of a jackel, but what's the point?
