I don't think any single tank design, either British, German, Russian, American or whatever, would have ultimately made much difference in the long run. There are two factors that tank modelling armchair "historians" seem to miss.
The Btitish had cracked the Enigma code and thus knew everything the Germans were doing. One good example is Kursk, the British supplied the Russians with heaps on information on the German plans, even complete technical details on the new Panther were supplied at the Russian's request.
The other... Berlin, 1945,... big mushroom cloud. What good would have been the fancy E-series of tanks done against that?
