I guess the Sherman would be on top of the list, as it provided the mainstay of all Allied armored forces (except Russia) from 1943 on. It sure wasn't a super tank in terms of armor or firepower, but it was in every other aspect (numbers, availability, reliability, adaptability, mobility, ease of maintenance, versatility, etc.). I'd say that if you consider ALL those factors and not just the gun/armor factor, the Sherman was superior to all other tanks in WWII.
That being said, and as others have mentioned, there is not one single piece of equipment or weapon that can be said to have made "THE" difference in final victory. It was all a matter of concerted effort and the masterful use of combined arms that won it for the Allies.
To me, the whole idea of "wonder weapons" is a typical German, or "Wagnerian" trait. And it is precisely that trait that may have been the proverbial Achilles's heel of the 3rd Reich. Had not the Germans wasted so much valuable energy and resources in the development and production of such awesome yet overly complex and costly weapons as the Tiger II or the Me262, the war may have lasted longer. Face it: as advanced or powerful as the latter were, they did not make an iota of difference in the war. Or if they did, it was in the Allies' favor because their development and production was such a drain on the German war industry that they actually have precipitated the fall of the Nazi regime.
Of course, and it's a known and accepted fact, it took 5 Shermans to knock out a Tiger I. Problem is, the Allies had the 5 Shermans (and 5 more) it took, plus plenty of fuel to move those tanks, incomparable artillery support and the air superiority needed to knock out each of those Tiger I's until none were left.
Just my take on the issue.
