I use a Canon EOS 300 D. Interchangable lenses, so I can go from wide angle to telescopic depending on whether I'm photographing a model or a real tank a long way away. Zoom, of course, and Macro function, depending on the lens I'm using. It has a very good autofocus that gives sharp images, auto exposure with umpteen optional settings plus manual, and multiple white balance choices so I can shoot in almost any light without getting strange colours. 6 megapixels for high resolution images - don't just think of posting on the internet, you need hi-res for decent prints. I can and do blow an image of a 3mm kit part up to fill my 17 inch screen without loss of crispness.
Your choice depends entirely on what you want to photograph, but I recommend getting the very best camera you can afford from a reputable maker - Canon, Minolta, and Fuji would be my options but whatever you choose go for as many megapixels as you can. And don't forget a tripod so you can sstop down for depth of field without getting camera shake on long exposures!
Cheers
