Testors at one time offered VHS tapes of the show hosted by a portly, bespeckelled fellow named Mike Lech (sic?). The host would visit some historic locale, get a tour by a personality there, and return to the basement where a modelling expert of the week would help build a model of whatever it was they saw that just happened to be represented in kit form. Then Mike would give the rundown of techniques learned, and place the model in the museum, located above. Memorable builds included:

Tamiya Bradley, with a visit to an Army base for a tour of the real deal

AWACS conversion with DB engines (1/72 Heller kit with a DB resin conversion for updated engines)

A San Francisco street car (Aurora.Testors had a kit available)

A BMW with converted crash test dummies for a crash test vehicle.

A Star Trek Enterprise

Something from Top Gun as they visited with the chief model builder for Top Gun who siad they build hundreds of F-14s to fling off a roof to get the shot where Maverick has to eject. He also did work on The Right Stuff, but a Top Gun model was featured.

The same fellow had a show that I caught once featuring stuff like slot cars, railroad sets, and the like which was pretty good. This must have led to the Testors deal. Too bad something like this can't be done today, although Hyperscale features video demos from time to time. Imagine a "what is that comb shaped device on the Sherman's hull?" show. Now there's an idea......
