| Subject: | Sprue Images in Reviews | |
| Date: | Feb 9, 2005 |
| From: | Paul A. Owen | |
I am trying to figure out a better way of presenting images for kit reviews.
After trying several methods of photographing the kit sprues and editing them. I have been unable to find a good balance between useful detail and file size. Technically, it is very difficult to get clear, in-focus, shadow-less photos of kit sprues. Most of the sprue photos I've seen do not present the parts in any good detail, rather only the basic shapes are evident. If they do show detail then they are so big in dimension and file size that they are too expensive for me to host.
What I find useful are close ups of parts that show the moulding quality. For example, the new DML Tiger I surprised me with the moulding quality, this is rarely evident in reviews. Also close-ups of interesting details that are new or unique to the kit.
The best solution I can think of is just linking to the sprue photographs that are now appearing on the companies web-sites, DML and AFV Club for example. And then focusing on detail shots of important parts.
What do you prefer as far as photographs in reviews?
If anyone has any suggestions or just comments on what kind of images they prefer to see in kit reviews then I'd like to read them.
Paul. |
