Just a thought, but what if the sprue images were presented at more or less black silhouttes (much like what used to be provided in some instruction sheets)...Then specific areas of interest or areas called out in the article had highlighted (maybe a tinted red box?) on the line drawing that would link to the actual image of that particular piece?
Thus we still get an idea of the sprue count,layout,etc., and pictures but this way..good, meaningful pictures.
Just my rambling thoughts.
