I own two businesses, but not retail. I found a nitch for one business that no one else was doing and have done pretty well with it. But as Father Sarduchi says, "the ten minute degree in economics...simple; buy low sell high." I think that a population base that has no hobby shop is a better market than a place that has two or more. Also I'd diversify greatly and bring in computer games, and definatley R.C. and/or trains. In the last two categories your not competeing with the Walmarts. But I'd like to see a real fun hobby shop out there where kids could hang out and get interested in someothng more than T.V. I remember growing up as a kid in Los Angeles there was hobby shop that had a giant slot car track that kids could bring thier cars and race each other on. Anyway, those are my thoughts on it.
