For rarity, yes, because I seemed to have found (and get) all the kits I wanted, some at great deals too.
I do have quite a few rare resin kits unbuilt, but not AFVs, so I won't list them here.
For AFVs/military, I consider these my pride and joy:
* Legend's Magach 7s when I was writing reviews for Legend.
* ALIENS APC (bought and found another one without having to go to eBay).
* Warriors 1/35 New Centurion (just bought it).
* AEF's SEAL DPV sci-fi kitbashed. (I'm glad it turned out the way it did because I was close to chucking it into the wastebasket. AEF no longer sells this kit and I don't recommend it except for sci-fi).
* Legend's Achzarit (bought this one from Singapore)
* Legend's IDF stowage gear, Shimira conversion, and FN MAG MGs from reviews.
* Kirin's 150mm Desert Storm SEAL, and 250mm SEAL in wetsuit (bought these from a TLer). I primed the DS one.
* Kirin's Super Jeep and Super Jeep Crew after an exhaustive search back in 1996.
* Coree's French VBL
* My Leopard 2A5 and Merkava 3 hovertanks (nice to see them sci-fied with so few parts!).
* SOL's 120mm SWAT #3 built and painted (didn't come out that great since I used jet black for the BDU. Next time I'll tint it with blue or gray for better highlights and shadows. I list this figure because I searched long and hard for one. I brought this one from Singapore after an exhaustive search).
* Airborne Miniatures 120mm figures before Colorado Miniatures started carrying them.
* Hobby Fan's ROC "rollbar" Humvees bought from MPK Taiwan when they were still doing overseas business.
* MR Models SINCGARS
* MR Models "Aggressive Pattern" Humvee wheels (said to be the best ones)
* Hobby Fan's "Aggressive Pattern" Humvee wheels. Also very good
* Verlinden's 120mm Stinger Gunner, SWAT, Dragon Gunner, SAW gunner, and Gen. Schwarzkopf (these can be hard to find).
* LOTS of DML 1/35 modern guns (these can be hard to find nowadays).
* DML's 1/16 BlackHawk Down Delta Force action figure. (I kind of heard this was rare).
* DML's 1/35 AH-6J. I think this has been reissued.
* DML's 1/16 Delta Force (managed to get two, but I think one can still find these).
* A print from Ron Volstad on the DML Modern Marines's art. Thanks, Ron!
* I also consider my modern reference book and article collection to be an envy too...at least one modeler told me straight out and wondered what books I have. I won't go into that ;-). But I do have (and can get) all the Concord SOJs here.
* My PC Tank Sim collection over the years, which I no longer have them all, I list as one envy because I played almost all of the realistic PC M1 tank sims as a young-un. Been there, done that :-).
* My model reviews on T-L and Armorama. In truth, I don't have the time anymore (or even care) to write these reviews. And with my PC and hard disk upgrades, some Word documents I even lost so they ONLY remain online at these DGs. Before, I would buy something rare and write a review the same or next week. Now I just buy :-)!
So to me, it's not the most-expensive kits that I treasure, but the OOP ones, kits or books, and the ones I spent a long time tracking down, not to mention the things I did that took up a lot of time. I can't do these anymore since I'm no longer a student and I don't get summers off :-).
But I think most importantly to my collection is turning sculptors' and model companies' attention to making more modern AFVs and figures. I knew and emailed quite a few sculptors, artists, and CEOs back in the 1990s and Y2K. That to me is my greatest accomplishment to the "perfect" collection---friendship---and contacts.
