Frank,

I have the same problem and often it's a half-day to a day long problem.

I wrote to Andrew last month and Andrew said he received emails on this and
notices it too. He has no explanation why this occurs though.

I haven't been banned myself but it does give me the "Blocked Access" at
least once or twice a week.

I do notice that "Blocked Access" occurs:

* It only happens with my home dial-up. At work with T1 connection, it's
fine So most often I view from work.
* It often happens when ML is updating the site. I get in after "Blocked
Access" and do notice graphics, articles, and banners are changed.
* When I cleaned up my "History," "Cookies," "or Temporary Internet Files,"
I sometimes get banned. I think it's because the ML Cookies are removed so
the Network54 is asking, "Who are you? Don't know...block him." ML's
homepage then automatically adds a Cookie so the next day it reads the
Cookie, knows who I am, and lets me in.
* Also, Earthlink does do the junk mail, chain mail, and SPAM advertising
from other online stores. The first time I posted on a car DG, the DG said,
"You are BANNED. This server does NOT allow posts from users whose servers
support SPAM mail."

Often Andrew and Sugi of AFV-News will send the user a warning email once
they track down the flamer via server connections. They will caution them
that if they misbehave again, they will be banned. Yes, there are times
were people are banned right off the bat.

As for Andrew banning people, well it's his site after all. But I would
like to mention weighing banning people against the information they give.
For instance, if I was a constant hot head who criticizes people and offers
no helpful information myself, sure ban me. No lost to the DG. But if I
was a hot head but helped out many posters, wrote many helpful articles, and
am the only one who taught you how to make a realistic 1/35 gun out of a
paperclip and toothpick, then removing me will be helpful or harmful to your
DG? Only the webmaster can make that call and decide if he/ she should ban
me or let me stay under a hawk's eye.

If you were banned (not you, Frank) and felt you helped more than hurt
people over your history with ML, perhaps you should email Andrew and lobby
your case if you want back in?

Pete
