If you are a current Canon user and have a stock of EOS lenses, then pick up the Digital Rebel, or if you want to spend some real bucks, the D60 or even the D11 (11 Megapixel). You get the benefit of digital plus the same old EOS lens settings you are used to. I think the Digital Rebel is about $750 to $800. The D11 is probably $3000+.
I got the Canon D30 and it is the best camera I have ever had. Even though an earlier model with "only" 3 Megapixels, the SLR EOS lenses give you so much better control than the point and shoot ones, you can get much nicer pics. Especially when you are doing model photography when you need good depth of field. I typically use a Canon 50mm macro lens with a aperture setting of 22 and most all the model in focus. You can see some of my pics from the Accurate Armour Comet I entered in the British Armor contest. I had a crappy background and really needed to spend some time with color correction, but you can see how the depth of field was. |
