| Subject: | Tamiya's price structure. | |

The new Marder III list prices should be £30 and US $ 45 respectively
(my source : Tamiya Modelling Magazine International).
I find that a bit expensive for such a small vehicle. A Dragon Elefant
although significantly bigger and with individual tracks is cheaper.
They don't even have the excuse of a complex mould (which would entail
high engineering costs) with that multi part arrangement for the lower
hull.
And what about Tamiya's kit production in the Phillipines? Despite
much lower labour costs the Tamiya factory there doesn't seem to have a
benificial effect on prices.
I guess I'll wait for a couple of years and pick one in a sale :-)
Cheers,
Christophe |
