I would have to agree with you. While sitting at work, I habe snekaed onto www.1999.co.jp and compared the prue shots between the Wespe and the new PzKpfw II. The spure arrangments are different as well as the PzKpfw II items such as idlers and prings have different sprue gate arrangments. For example, the Wespe idler wheel has three sprue gates while the new PzKpfw II has four.
Being a significant release for Tamiya, I am sure they have retooled the suspension system.
This is just a speculation.
