I found that the seam that ran horizontally between the upper and lower portions of "the box" could be filled using Elmer's wood filler and LOTS of VERY careful sanding. Follow this with a good priming and the seam should disappear.

I'm getting ready to seal and weather my M577. As soon as I get it done I'll shoot a pic or two and post in the gallery.
