You are correct in your observations. The chassis is indeed an M1. Actually, it is an IPM1 hull. The cap (low superstructure as you referred to it) is a newly designed, armored crew compartment for the vehicle commander. The primary role for the vehicle is mine clearing. This mission can be accomplished while the vehicle is manned or the vehicle can be driven robotically from a safe distance away. The commander's cupola is indeed off of an M113. If you have any more questions regarding the vehicle, please email me. I was the lead design engineer for the project and I am particularly proud of the vehicle.
