Hello Christopher,
Actually, all of the Marines M1A1 are newer than what the Army Has. The
Army is in the process of eliminating some versions of the M1 series tank???
I have that from a very reliable source. I won't go into any further
detail, but one part of it has todo with pending upgrades that the Marine
Corps is doing to its M1A1 fleet that the Army is thinking of adopting..It
turns out the Marines are doing it, cheaper, better, and faster...the Army
can't afford its expensive toys anymore.

the Army updates it's equipment, the old stuff goes to the Marines. However,
it's hard to refer to the M1A1 as "old stuff" since it outclasses anything
it comes up against. Also, it just goes to show how well this machine has
held up over the years as well as how well the Marines take care of their
equipment.
