Hi John,
To be honest I haven’t read it yet as I seem to have had a million and one things to do. First off I wrongly mixed the words up, its actually 'Military International Review' published by: HPC Publishing, Drury Lane, St. Leonard’s On Sea, East Sussex TN38 9BJ 01424 720477 and Editor is John M Young.
I don’t know whether Smiths can search using the barcode number but its 977147905600306. Subscriptions and enquiries can be put through the above address/tel. number. Some of the photos are available online (that appear in the mag) and the contents of this issue are:
War in Iraq, 18 pages, day-to-day diary following British forces (MOD pics). The Dambusters, 60th anniversary of, 3 pages, pictures two of the old and current 617 sq. The M1 Abrams tank, 7 pages, includes some pictures I have seen plus line drawings, development and recent deployment info. A 'regular' feature called Second World War Diary, 2 pages covering month of Sept 1939. Troopship conditions, 2 pages, mainly photos of conditions of WW2 troopships. International Review, 2 pages that report on recent developments (some briefly, some more in-depth) involving military action. Australian Forces in Iraq, 2 pages mainly photos with small captions. Restoration, 3 pages, this time on an AEC Matador still soldiering on. Historic Buildings, 3 pages, covering Hurst Castle in reasonable detail and finally Book Review's, 2 pages of reviews covering 4 books.
My only criticism’s are that the book review section may be better including a picture of the front cover's and that the Aus forces in Iraq is quite small and I would like to see more detail on their involvement.
Plus points are the diary of British forces in Iraq (first story), which looks excellent, as does the Abrams Article.
In summary I would say this mag is more for those interested in Military matters around the globe rather than a big source of reference pictures. The format is A4 size with glossy finish and clear easy to understand layout.
Hope this helps,
tim
P.S. How come you don’t like C&S? I find the reports by Carl Schulze and Yves Debay quite interesting. |
