British War Office report 291/1143 gives 20 pounder performance, using APDS ammo, as follows:
At 600 yards' range, penetration at 0 degress is 300mm
At 1000 yards, penetrationis 280mm
At 150 yards, penetration is 260mm
For plate angled at 30 degrees from vertical (the most common way of quoting penetration figures and the best pointof comparison for other gunand ammo combinations) the figures are 240, 225, and 210 respectively.
These figures are all substantially better than, say, the soviet 100mm or US 90mm. |
