As far as I know, I don't think they used M4A1 "big hatches" as depicted by Italeri. They used old M4A1 chassis (the DML one) with the "normal" turret but up-gunned with 76 mm guns and widened tracks (duckbills on both side of the track)at least on one of them.
You can find pictures on Poelstra website, The Sherman Registery. There's a link to Indian and Pakistanese armies web sites and some good pictures.
The camo was olive green(English or US, I don't know) smeared with mud (I read that in the first version of the Osprey book). But I have a colour shot showing a deep bronze green, close to the modern English one. So, I think you can afford some "artistic license" regardind the paint.
