The following book review of mine may interest you:

The opening para reads:
Israel’s borders have been and continue to be a source of ongoing dispute and conflict. Following defeat in the 1967 “Six Day War” Egypt was determined to regain the Sinai Desert. After re-equipping her Army with considerable assistance from the Soviets, Egypt crossed the Suez Canal in October 1973 with a carefully planned surprise attack. The ensuring battles saw initial Egyptian victories and an eventual Israeli counter attack that involved decisive armoured thrusts. While Israel was tactically successful, the campaign had considerable political repercussions both within Israel and internationally by reinitiating negotiations over control of the Sinai.
its also worth noting that Ariel Sharron was quite instrumental in the Israeli tank successes.
Cheers
