There is a new periodical called "South African Colours and Markings"
produced by Piet Van Schalkwyk and William Marshall. Volume 1 has a 12
page section on the Ratel and with a name like "Colour and MArkings" you
would be right in assuming that there is a lot of such information.
There are 6 colour photos and about 20 colour side and front view
drawings. The vehhicle you are talking about, belonging to the 32 Bttn
has an Anti-Tank Platoon Ratel 90 featured. The colours are a base of
SADF Brown (Humbrol 29) with a veining of Defence Force Green (H 75) and
irregular spots of Pale Stone (H121).

These books are recommended for anyone liking SADF subjects. There are 2
volumes so far and each has a split of 2 aircraft articles and one
vehicle article. Vol 1 has the Mirage F1AZ and the Hurricane as well as
the Ratel. Vol 2 has the P-40 and DdeHAvilland Vampire, a nice piece on
SA Armoured Recce cars (ie the Marmon Herringtons) plus a bonus piece on
Orange Free State uniforms from the Boer War.

They are about US$16 each and available from Mark Klutchko at Michigan
Discount Hobbies (www.discountmodels.com). Their service was first rate!

You can contact Piet at pietvs@netactive.co.za if you are outside North
America for your nearest dealer.

In addition there is a fair set of drawings in Tankette 15/2 and some
nice, if small, overall photos in Tankette 18/1.
