The new Iraqi Army is currently using quite a bit of different items either donated or sold cheap:
1. T-72B (-M1)
2. BTR-84 from Jordan (BTR-80 with a unique dual 23mm turret.)
3. BMP-1 reconditioned in some fashion, I am not sure what work was done or who did it. I believe most of the reworking was done internally.
4. IIRC the Iraqi Army is using more of the civilian vehciles and Jeeps vs. using the BRDM.
All of my info is second hand from photo's, written accounts, and first-hand reports to me. I have not been to Iraq to see any of it first hand. |
