Hi Goran
These vehicles were only build as prototypes. The chassis, be it T55 or T69, were not really of importance as these vehicles are almost identical. The difference was in the turret, as one conversion just raised the roof of the turret, and in the other conversion the complete turret was raised with a insert at the base. Jane's Armour & Artillery 1993/94 has information on this project and on some other Iraqi conversions. I've understood that the 125mm conversions were unsuccesfull as the turrets were, even after rebuilding, to cramped to service the gun wel, and that the two piece ammo resulted in a slow rate of fire. This project and a lott of other Iraqi projects were halted or slowed down by the international embargo, and beside the 'enigma' T55/T69 with an improvised armoursuite, none ever came to operational deployment. There are some pics on the net, try Google. |
