Hello All,
I know that Isreal eventually modified all of their M48's to M48A3 level (105mm gun, Diesel engines, Urdan cupola, etc), but not all of the modifications took place all at once. Some Sherman type (M1?) cupolas were used early in the conversion program. I am not sure aboout the order of the conversion process and what combinations would have been possible (ie Diesel powerplant w/90mm gun or gas powerplant w/105mm gun). I have seen a photo (http://idf-armour-group.org/groupforum/index.php?act=Attach&type=post&id=4170)with a 105mm gun and Sherman cupola, but could not see much of the engine deck in the photo. Was it possible to have an M48A2C (no Diesel upgrade) with Sherman cupola and 105mm gun?
