It is definetely a personnel heater exhaust pipe. When running the heaters were nice, (I use to invite the infantry in for a warm up), however due to an overdesigned ingnitor they often stayed inoperative. Someone should ask me about a ground hop kit for the heaters. There is also a piece of basic issue item for the pipe which was never used, often lost, but expected to be in place for inspection. This was a heater pipe cape made of OD green plastic which snapped into the end of the exhaust pipe. For culinary purposes one could take a banama box lid out of the turrent, wedge it inverted under the exhaust pipe and heat your C-Rations. Those were indeed the days. Thanks for tolerating the ramble.
Bob
