I retired from the Army in 2004 and I led an organization that provided a great deal of new equipment to the Stryker Brigades. I supported the 1st Stryker Brigade (3rd Brigade of 2ID based out of Fort Lewis) in Iraq for a year beginning in late 2003 or early 2004. The second Stryker Brigade (1st Brigade of the 25th ID based out of Fort Lewis) replaced 3/2 in Iraq in late 2004 or early 2005 and they were in turn replaced by the 3rd Stryker Brigade, 172 Infantry Brigade based out of Forts Wainright/Richardson in Alaska in late 2005 or early 2006. I am not sure if SBCT #4 (not sure of this unit's current designation, but was 2d ACR (Light) a few years ago...) deployed or not. I am hearing SBCT 1 is getting ready to go to Iraq for their 2d tour. I do not know for sure, but I currently work for DoD and do my best to keep up with this. I am not aware of any Stryker Brigades at all going to Afghanistan.
