Frank, my suspicion turned out true. Same story as olive drab.

In WW2, there was a green color called Forest Green 109, which was also called Marine Green 1415 going into the 50's. When the FS595 series started, the old color was replaced by 14052 which then carried on the Marine Green name. 24052 & 34052 came in shortly after.

In short, the WW2 Forest Green which became the 1st Marine Green has no relation to the current MERDC/NATOflage Forest Green. Also, as in the case with olive drab, the current Marine Green 34052 may not be the same hue as the pre-1956 Marine Green aka Forest Green aka Pullman Green.
