Here is a link to a conversion kit of the T-55M5 from SP Designs that I help sell:

The T-55M5 has the K5 ERA, T-72 engine, New Roadwheels, T-72 type track, and many FCS improvements. Of course, they area ll mix-and-match items, so you would not need all of them to upgrade that T-55 sitting in your front yard! ;)
The T-55M5 is the desination for this model as of the VTTM-OMSK show in 2005. It is possible there are other variants/designations as it is a show-piece and has not yet been ordered by anyone. The T-55AM or T-55A(M) are supposedly two older/different conversions of a lesser nature.
I have seen the T-55AM designator assigned to T-55A's upgraded with applique armor similar to T-62 "BDD" Horseshoe armor attached, the Volna FCS, Smoke Grenade Launchers, and other interior upgrades. The Czech's offered a similar upgrade called the T-55AM2.
The T-5AMV is a T-55A upgraded with Kontact 1/3 ERA bricks.
The T-55A(M) designator has been applied to various versions of the T-55, I think it is a generic designator for T-55A (Modern) until some interest or a new moniker is chosen. |
