Hy Christian!
In Ospreys New Vanguard no. 6 ( T-72MBT)from Steven J. zaloga there is little info about the romanian T-72 but a good drawing concerning the amrkings on the turret. For the modernized version, TR-125.....itīs almost a new tank (concept from the 1980īs) with french engine, smaller and more roadwheels and newer style (T-80) tracks. Fenders etc. Due to the soviet break-down and financial problems no mass-production entered so far. For some pics I recommend:

Not much, but it can give you an overview of the shape and color.
For the picture from the Osprey book:
It shows the new pattern of markings adopted by Romanian Socialist Army in the late 80īs. The new national insignia uses the traditional tri-colour roundel. The turret number on the rear stowage bin is the typical Romanian pattern 4D209, the 4D should be a unit designator.
The TR-800, also known as TR-80 or more common TR-85 is a massive upgrade programm made on T-55īs, but i stop here as it wasnīt your question ;-)
So, hope this helps a bit.
Best regards,
Andy T.
