Jason:
I'm glad you found the information useful. Unfortunately I do'nt have any informatin regarding T59's from that particular period, but my best guess is they didn't change much until 1975.
From my pictures and other research, both fenders got quickly beaten. As you mention, the right fenders seems to be a blind spot for the tank driver (just my guess) as it is commonly in worse shape than the left one!
I'm doing the bad old Lee, but I'm wanting to get myself another one, in this case a T55 to build a Finnish version (green and black camo rather than the overall green)
For my own experience, Trumpeter and Lee seem to come from the same area. The Lee one even had an electric motor, and I think it was a copy of the old ESCI/Italeri. It is said they aren't that good. to me they are fine for a shaken tank. The bad thing is the instructions were in Chinese, but thankfully a chiese friend translated for me (let me know if you need help with that)
If I was to build a NVA version, I'd choose the one with the corrugated metal plate replacing the original fenders. I think it would be easy to replicate with Evergreen corrugated plastic sheet. You know, I kow many Vietnamese and they are incredible. They would fix things that you would normally discard as garbage.
Good luck with your tank and keep in touch!!
