Hi Jim,
My other hobby is Landrovers, and having just left the British Army (although nothing to do with SAS) I do have a bit of an interest in these vehicles.
Just a few years ago some DPVs were 'accidently' filmed by a British news crew whilst on Operation Palliser as part of the Joint Rapid Deployment Force in Sierra Leone.
In Bob Morrison's book 'Combat Landrover Portfolio No.1' there are two pictures from the news footage. One is very clear and looks to be a fairly new DPV in a single light stone/tan colour. There is also a poorer picture of a two older DPVs with the front one appearing to be dark green.
I know that back in the 90s the SAS trained in Kenya with DPVs in a stone/green camo, but I'm not sure that this would be appropriate for the newer vehicle which you are modelling. The older DPVs had a single roll bar whereas the newer ones like you are making have a full rollcage style weapons mount. |
