I agree the kit is worth considering w/o adding the slat armor. I recently purchased the large format Concord book on the Stryker and there are plenty of pictures of the vehicle w/o it (obviously in training settings stateside).

There is a rumor going around that the reason DML has delayed introducing a Stryker is so they can add side molded slat armor. I think modellers who tackle the Eduard solution deserve a lot of credit for taking on a very complex project of that magnitude.

From my own perspective, the slat armor takes away some of the personality of the final product(or increases it from someone else's point of view). The first Strykers I saw on television were hardly recognizable with the slat armor and external stoage.
