Mike,
When I served in the British Army (1979-84) the standard vehicle radios fitted were the Clansman series. Designations for HF vehicle sets were UK/PRC 320 & UK/VRC 321, & for VHF sets were UK/PRC 351 & UK/VRC 353.
The type of vehicle you're modelling would probably be fitted with VHF sets. These have large rectangular boxes fitted on the front wings with the antenna mount on top; they are called TUAAMs (Tuning Unit, Automatic, Antenna Matching). The 353 is also fitted in tanks & Warrior IFVs.
All these radios are old technology now, & are in the process of being replaced by the Bowman system, but I don't know what stage this upgrade process has reached. The Clansman series is still in use though, & I believe Accurate Armour do resin replicas of the 353 at least.
Hope this helps you out.

Cheers,
Chris
