Geoff,

Its a resin M4 High Speed Tractor lower hull. I think it was from Masters Productions. The new plastic kit hull would probably also work. The set up, components and spacing of the X1A1 bogies and suspension match that of the High Speed Tractor. The surface of the hull side appears pretty clean, so there are some changes in plane on the HST that should be filled/trimmed flush (see photo).

The rear idler and its rocker arm from the Stuart are not correct for the X1A1.

As you can see from the photo, the rear hull length has to be shortened at the base to accomodate the Stuart rear lower hull plate and angle. And of course the front hull profile has to be trimmed to match the Stuart glacis plate angles. Also, the vision port plate for the X1A1 may be at a slightly lower angle than the Stuart.

As I mentioned, I do not have info yet on the details of the hull bottom. I may proceed anyway and either leave the HST features or remove them and leave a smooth bottom.

Mike G.
