Hi Bruno,
After some thinking on the subject, a local conversion seems more logical. The pics show the 2 pounder gun from the field carriage, hence the under barrel recuperator. While a British conversion would probably go for the standard AFV mounting as used in other British armoured cars.
AFAIk both Staghound and AEC MKIII were not used during WW2 in the middle east (?), so their origin stays unclear.
I've heard that the Greece gendarmerie used a Staghound with AEC turret too well into the 70's.
Guess theses came from the same source.
Though it is all guessing, 'till some 'hard' evidence shows up.
