Subject:  Canadian Shermans in Korea ModificationsList thread.

There were field modifications done to the Shermans depending on which Squadron from the Strathconas were crewing them.

There were ammunition racks added to the rear hull stowage rack which enabled the tanks to carry about 30-40 extra storage tubes of 76 mm ammunition. These were simple angle iron picket sections welded to the small rear hull stowage rack and the ammo tubes stacked up horizontally. This was much needed in static defensive positions for firebase type missions.

One of the Squadrons attached sections of track to the sides of the turret...about 8 track links long....they covered the Squadron tactical markings on the turret sides....I think it was 'A' Squadron.

Both 'B' and 'C' Squadron mounted roadwheels on the turret sides to the rear of the Squadron markings on the turret.

A point of interest in the Shermans used by the LdSH(RC) in Korea....at least one of the tanks had the earlier split loader's hatch and not the later single oval hatch.

Not all of the tanks had the tank names in white...at least one..."BRONCO" from 'B" Squadron was stencilled on in yellow paint.
