I have not seen this particular tank but.....The egyptians could not get access to lots of modern equipment after kicking out the brits, until the russians started to supply them, so they started to make a lot of 'scratchbuild' modifications. One which you can see on the highway from El Alamein is an AMX-13 turret on an M-4 Sherman (it was there Nov last year) They did use a lot of WW2 surplus equipment -even Vickers mk VI lt tanks into the late 50s, so I would not be surprised if their workshops (they just took over the british army ones), which had been maintaining a variety of vehicles in WW2 had kept some of the crusaders in running order.
