In practice (the gulf) the British rifled gun proved to be more accurate at
longer ranges then the smoothbore fin stabilised rounds.
Don't forget that we have a lot of experience with rifled barrels, the 120
is eveloped from the 105 via the 120 in the Conqueror and Chieftain. |
