| I know that the USMC used them. IIRC, the USMC M110A2s were deployed in theater from the afloat socks on the Maritime Prepositioning Ships. They arrived in-country in the old 4-color MERDC camouflage (Dark Green, Field Drab, Light sand and black) . When in country vehicles statrted being repainted in sand paint, the M110A2s were lower priority than Tanks, AAVs, HMMWVs, etc. However some did get repainted. If you search the newspapers and news magazines (Time, Newsweek, etc) of August 90-March 91, you will find a lot of photos. I have two clippings from the NY Times of USMC m110s. One from fall 90 in 4-color, and one from Jan/Feb 91 in sand. (Unfortunately, my scanner doesn't do a good job on newspaper half-tone pictures.) |
