On the contrary, the GUARDS ARMD were at the tip of the food chain. Fireflies were always in demand and given the timeframe I imagine that the Vc was still available as a replacement. The Coldstreams had 1c Hybrids in December and these served alongside the Vc fireflies. Most photos of Garden that I have seen were of Vcs but it is not inconcievable that 1cs were in service.
