| Subject: | No Segmented Barrels? | |
| Date: | Apr 30, 2006 |
| From: | Ron | |
I have looked through about 50 random photos on this site so far and in none of them can the segmented barrel featured in the Trumpeter KV-2 (kit number 00312) and the new Lion Roar for said kit be seen. None of the books I have on the KV-I/II have any photos with a segmented barrel.
Is the KV-II segmented barrel a total fiction? I seem to recall a review which mentioned the segments seen on one set of plans, but nowhere else.
Incidentally, the Lion Roar barrel is slightly longer by about 4mm than the plastic barrel provided in kit number 00312. The Aber barrel for the Tamiya KV-II is close to the same length as the Lion Roar one (however the LR barrel has a slightly wider collar on the end of the barrel, by about 1 mm). Actually, the Aber Tamiya replacement barrel is physically shorter, but it can be used with the Trumpeter kit mantlet by adding a segment of tube to the base of the barrel. |
