Mr Zaloga provided a plate showing the official scheme included in 'Operational Memorandum 34 (March 1943)' that instituted the Sicily Pattern (not an official name!).
And suspension is left untouched, probably for the good reasons mentioned above.
The book is the good oooollllddddd Osprey Vanguard 39 'US Camouflage and Markings 1914-1945' 1984.

PS: I still not understand why the Tank, Medium used as a basis for the scheme is still a M3 and why the M3A1 was chosen (all replaced by M5s and even some M5A1s at the time)
