| Subject: | Bren Gun carriers at Guadalcanal | |
| Date: | Jul 28, 2006 |

I visit this site every day and am always impressed with both the models and the breadth of the research base shared by members.
I have a question based on my recent reading of Guadalcanal: The First Offensive, one of the "Green Books" CMH's history of WWII. On page 142 it is stated that on 13 October two ships unloaded elements of the 157th Infantry and the 1st Marine Air Wing. The reference then provides a list of equipment landed including "sixteen British Bren gun carrers". Does anyone know how this came to be, who used them, how were they employed etc.
I have done a lot of reading on the war and never heard this before. If nothing else it would make a great diorama for one of you master modelers.
Thanks for any information on this subject.
