Hi Rick,

"Stadtgas" literally translated means "town gas", so this means that to conserve precious fuel for the front line, the Germans converted a number of training vehicles to run on various other fuels like Holzgas (wood-burning) & ordinary domestic gas (produced at that time by burning coal or coke). This was then carried in externally-mounted fuel tanks on the vehicle & the engine converted to run on the new fuel. Vehicles so converted were usually older or captured ones used for driver training.
I've seen photos of Char B tanks used by the Germans mounting these fuel tanks, but never a Panther. But, as with everything to do with German WW2 AFVs, you should never say never! I assume Dragon has done their research on this one, & produced evidence of Panthers with this fuel system.
Hope this helps.

Cheers,
Chris.
