| Subject: | VK 45.01 (P) questions | |

Hi everybody,
With the Tiger competition going on, I'm contemplating to convert Dragon's new Porsche Tiger into one of the VK 45.01 prototypes. (And hope to get it finished on time!) As this vehicle is a footnote in most publications and with the Panzer Tract book unavailable in the Netherlands, I am, after scavenging the net, left with some questions. Hope some of you have the answers.
1- As I understand there were 10 gun tank prototypes with the first eight having the early low sided turret, can anybody help me with a scale drawning of this early turret or with a link leading to it?
2- Several pictures show a welded up round hatch forward at the superstructure sides, was this a feature of all these prototypes?
3- Several pictures show a 'minimal' fender arrangement, with the middle piece missing, is the change to 'full fenders' something that happened when the these tanks were allocated to the training role or were this variantions between the prototypes?
4- Was the tool stowage, of which I noticed at least two different schemes, added during the testing program or afterwards?
5- Were the 'later turret' prototypes in other aspects different from the first eight vehicles?
6- Was the turret stowage box fitted from the start or a later addition?
7- Was the mesh on the air intakes allready fitted to the prototypes as the mesh on the outlets are clearly only seen on the 'operational' vehicle?
To conclude this long list, I'm searching for a Kugelblende (ball mount) for the radio operators position. Is this a item that's available as an AM product, or is there perhaps one of you whom has this piece in the spare box and is willing to part with it?
Hope you can help me out, thanks in advance!
Cheers,
Alex |
