The Ambush Scheme was authorized in August 1944, but seems not to have been implemented for most vehicles until September, when Zimmerit was discontinued. I have seen at least one Panther with Zimmerit in ambush style cammo, but this may have been one of the experiments in the field that led to its introduction at the factory level. All the King Tigers i with the spotted cammo I have seen were later vehicles with the red primer or Olive Green base paint and no Zimmerit.
