| The 'School'bell that was used to scramble Spits, and Hawks during the Battle of Britain at Biggin Hill Air base in Kent is up for sale. The Auction house that is selling it expects it to go for between 4,and 8 hundred pounds. Not a vast amount of money.I just hope that it will be picked up by the Imperial War musium ,or an RAF musium, and not into the hands of a collector .For some of 'The Few'that bell was there death knell, and for that alone, makes it a priceless national treasure. It would be nice to see that small part of our History given a place of pride, for future generations. |
