Bryan,
The 2 best references I can think of to quote for you are the After The Battle book "Battle of the Bulge Then & Now" by Jean-Paul Pallud, & the Osprey Elite title "Ardennes 1944: Peiper & Skorzeny" by the same author. Both of these feature numerous close-up photos of sSS-Pz.Abt.501's approach march through the town of Tondorf (bear in mind that the unit was actually under operational control of Kampfgruppe Peiper of the Leibstandarte at this time), & all the Royal Tigers depicted in them display ambush camouflage schemes with hard edges & no Zimmerit. Another point to note from these photos is that quite a lot of the crewmen shown in them are wearing the 2-piece black leather U-Boat protective clothing, acquired by the Leibstandarte around 1943.
Hope this helps you with your project.
Cheers,
Chris. |
